Pellegrino, Josephine
She was born Josephine Sconzo on November 15, 1927 in Brooklyn, N.Y. to Anthony and Eleanor Sconzo. She was raised in Brooklyn with her older brother Anthony “Buddy” Sconzo and in 1946 she graduated from the Central High School of Needle Trades in Manhattan. Josephine would go on to work as a sales clerk at B. Altman and Company. She married Thomas Pellegrino on August 30, 1947. Josephine worked part time as a sales clerk at Abraham & Strauss (later Macy’s) in Downtown Brooklyn, but her passion was raising her four children. Despite losing her own mother at a very young age Josephine excelled at being a mother. She served for several years as the President of the PTA at P.S. 105, where each of her children attended.
