Pamala M. Shaughnessey-Banks, the owner-operator of the Reef Road Funeral Home, is the recipient of a Chamber of Commerce award. The award is given to highlight the accomplishments of businesswomen in Fairfield. Shaughnessey-Banks received the Women’s Economic Spotlight Recognition Award. It’s sponsored by the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce and state Rep. Kim Fawcett. In a news release, the award sponsors said that the mortuary industry has been dominated by the males and a fewer than 5% of the funeral homes in the nation are owned and managed by women. Carl Eggleston has a funeral business in Farmville, and he believes that innovation plays a crucial role when you’re in the funeral business. Having more than 30 years of experience in the industry, he’s seen it all and he’s tried to be the one who keeps up with the times and needs of bereaved families. Today, he is offering a new service to his customers: the drive-thru. According to Eggleston, you can just stay inside your vehicle and ride by the window to see your loved one. Yahoo CEO Bought a Funeral Home

Marissa Mayer’s latest investment is a funeral home which she bought last year. She used a small portion of her huge personal fortune in buying the funeral home.
