When a Friend Loses a Loved One

June 22, 2014
As a bereavement specialist, Jennifer Messelt has encountered numerous individuals who grieve the loss of their loved ones. She shared some advice to people who find difficulty in dealing with persons who have recently lost someone who is very dear:
  • When it comes to helping a bereaved person, offering your initiative is always better than waiting for a request.
  • Let the person know that you are available if he or she wants to talk and share what she is going through.
  • Remember a grieving person on special occasions.
