Saying the right words to a grieving individual in order to make him or her feel better can be quite challenging. Oftentimes, the words that come out of our mouth bring sadness and pain more than comfort to a grieving friend. Below are ways on how you can communicate passionately to someone who has just lost their loved one.

  • Be physically present for your grieving friend.
  • Take time to listen as you allow your friend to share his emotions.
  • Avoid using the word “at least.”
  • Keep checking in to see how they are doing.
