Michael Bannon Jr. passed away on December 27, 2025. He was the beloved son of Laurie Bannon and Michael Bannon Sr.; a devoted brother to John Bannon and Donna Bannon & the late Monica Bannon; a cherished uncle to Alexandra Soelch; and a loving father to James Peterson.

Michael will be remembered for his intelligence, generosity, kindness, and his uniquely odd sense of humor. He was someone you could always depend on, no matter the circumstances—even in times of great distress. Michael consistently put the happiness and well-being of those he loved above all else, offering unwavering support and care day in and day out.

He had a deep passion for reading newspapers and books, particularly those centered on New York mob history. Often times if you were close friend or family member you would find one the articles in the mail. He greatly enjoyed watching science fiction and fantasy films and series, particularly Lord of the Rings & Harry Potter.

Michael was a proud 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Rev. Charles Boyd Council #6654. He was also a retired member of Local Union #3, Electricians Union of New York City, and an active member of the Catholic Council of Local Union #3.

Michael’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Even though we haven’t seen each other in decades. I needed to let you know that you were my first true friend.. Learing about your passing has moved me emotionally and reminded me of our childhood years in South Brooklyn, attending St. Marys and St. Francis Prep together, running track in Red Hook, lifting weights in my parent’s basement, drinking boilermakers at Hanleys and summers on the Jersey Shore. My memories will always be forever young. That’s how you will be remembered. Rest in peace my childhoid friend.

I will always cherish the memories with you Micheal. This past year Im grateful to have the opportunity to make a few memories. I will miss seeing you in the mornings , having breakfast together, seeing you bond with James or even you yelling at him like the father you were to him. I knew you had a big heart the day you gave up your hot chocolate to give it to me. You were not only a great human but you were a great father, and grandfather. We will miss you. Rest in peace.
