Burial to follow at Green Wood Cemetery, 500 25th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11232
In loving memory of Laura Costagliola who was the devoted wife of Joseph and the wonderful mother of Tara. Laura was an outstanding advocate and exceptional caregiver to Tara who had severe medical challenges throughout her lifetime.
Laura and Joey grew up in the Carroll Gardens and Boerum Hill neighborhoods and were known by everyone. You couldn’t walk down Court street with Laura, Joey and Tara, without being greeted by so many friends and neighbors.
Laura worked for the Local Development Corporation that supported the economic growth of the “Mom and Pop” stores of Smith Street. She ran a “welfare to work” program through three thrift shops in Carroll Gardens and Red Hook. Laura was an administrative assistant for Long Island College’s ENT department. She was a parishioner of Sacred Hearts St Stephen and looked forward to supporting the church and attending social functions.
Laura was an exceptional cook and went out of her way to share her food with her friends, neighbors and family. She enjoyed hosting Sunday dinners and holiday feasts. Laura, Joey and Tara always had a packed bag in the trunk for impromptu trips to Foxwoods,, Atlantic City, or Seaside Heights. Trips to Las Vegas were also thoroughly enjoyed as they visited her sister, brothers, and their families. Laura had a special place in her heart for her friends and was there to help through thick and thin. You could always find them at shows, concerts, stadiums, restaurants including Nathan’s or Junior’s.
Laura showed our family what a strong, compassionate and caring woman does in the face of multiple challenges and obstacles. She was kind and always went out of her way to help others.
Laura was one of eight children of the Sagrestano family. She was preceded in death by Tara and Joey, in addition to six siblings. Laura is survived by her sister Joan Phillips, her brother-in-laws John Varban and Vinny Costagliola, and sister-in-laws Diane and Arlene. Fifteen nieces and nephews, their children and a multitude of friends will miss her so.
In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to either St Mary Star of the Sea Parish Food & Clothing Ministry, Pulmonary Hypertension Association or a charity of your choice.

Rest in peace 🙏 my dear cousin. You’ll be missed.
I was one of Laura’s caretakers, but it was not long until I considered her a friend. As we move through life we meet many people and sometimes we are lucky enough to cross paths with someone very special. Laura was just that and so much more- she was kind, caring, generous and sharp. I am grateful to have known her, laugh with her and care for her. I will cherish my memories with her and will miss her dearly. May she R.I.P
All my love,
Zina
