Jose Enrique Roman, born January 21, 1978, formerly of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and most recently of Coconut Creek, Florida, passed away at age 48 on September 13, 2026. Taken far too soon, Jose leaves behind a legacy of compassion, adventure, laughter, music, and a fierce love for the people and animals fortunate enough to be part of his life.
A dedicated registered nurse, Jose cared for others when they were afraid, hurting, or facing the unknown. His career included emergency nursing and assignments across the country, but his deepest calling was hospice care.
Jose was passionate about helping patients and their families find comfort, dignity, and peace during life’s most tender and difficult transition. He understood that caring for someone at the end of life also meant caring for the whole family—with patience, reassurance, respect, and presence.
During the COVID-19 crisis, Jose traveled throughout the United States to assist understaffed hospitals when help was needed most. He brought skill, calm, and compassion to strangers in extraordinary circumstances. Whether in an emergency room, at a patient’s bedside, or supporting a family through an unimaginable time, Jose gave of himself with his whole heart.
Jose embraced life with passion and without hesitation. He loved skydiving, pickleball, salsa dancing, fitness, pro wrestling, boxing, roller coasters, and music. A proud Gen Xer, he enjoyed Rocky, ThunderCats, He-Man, Voltron, Star Trek, horror/thriller movies, and the songs and memories that made him smile.
He sought out what was fun and simply did it. Jose did not merely enter a room—he brought energy, laughter, and heart with him. His joyful spirit made a room come alive, and everyone knew immediately when Jose had arrived. Every moment was his to share with those around him.
Behind that adventurous spirit was a deeply gentle and loving heart. Jose cherished his mother, Naida Roman; his sister, Jenny de Palma, née Roman; his brother, Juan E Roman; and his extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Juan Enrique Roman Sr., whom he now joins in eternal rest.
Always ready to lend a hand or be present for someone he loved, Jose also had a special devotion to his dogs and the newest members of the family, his guinea pigs.
Jose lived boldly, loved fiercely, and never waited around for life to begin. Though his absence will be felt beyond words, the joy, courage, laughter, and care he gave so freely will remain with all who knew and loved him.
In his honor, take the trip, play the music, dance without embarrassment, and show up for someone who needs you. Most of all, laugh and be the light the world needs.
