Truth is, children rely on the reaction of those people closest to them when dealing with a loss of a loved one. And because their understanding of death varies mainly because of their age and personality, it could a little difficult for them to cope with such loss. Below are some tips on how to help children deal with death of a loved one.

  • Explain to your children what happened and encourage them to ask questions.
  • Explain to them basic and absolute terms.
  • –          Avoid saying words like “went away” or “went to sleep.”
  • –          Encourage them to express and share their feelings.
