Guiding Kids Through the Process of Grief

Adults want to ‘protect’ children from grief for as long as they can. However, some who have gone through the experience will tell you that allowing a child to go through the process of grief, instead of acting as their shield against it, can actually prove to be more helpful. Here are some tips:

  • Acknowledge their fears
  • It’s ok to show emotion
  • Find age appropriate resources to help your child understand what’s going on
  • Don’t walk the path alone
