Giuseppe “Joseph” Oteri of Pear River, New York, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2023 at the age of 101. Giuseppe was born to Rosario and Caterina Oteri in Messina, Italy. He grew up with 10 brothers and sisters on a farm. Setting his sights on new horizons, he joined the Italian army and served as a photographer during World War II.  Upon his return from the war, he met his future wife Domenica Coppola, whom he married six months later. They were married for 53 years.  He left Italy to move to Brooklyn, NY, where he reinvented himself. He taught himself English, trained as a tool and die maker and became the proud papa to his son, Rosario. He moved his family to Staten Island and enjoyed gardening, photography, and music.  

Giuseppe was survived by his son Rosario and daughter in-law Marianne. He is also survived by his two grandchildren, Caroline and Jacqueline. 

Giuseppe was known for his intelligence, passion for learning, and strong work ethic. He left an impact on everyone who got to know him and will be truly missed.

Giuseppe “Joseph” Oteri of Pear River, New York, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2023 at the age of 101. Giuseppe was born to Rosario and Caterina Oteri in Messina, Italy. May Light eternal forever shine upon Mr Oteri. He will always be an inspiration for his healthy outlook maintaining mind, spirit and body. Prayers for Ro, Marianne, Jackie & Caroline that they find comfort and, yes, Joy, holding him in their hearts.
