Do’s and Don’ts When Consoling Someone

Grief, pain and anger are some of the common feelings of those dealing with the death of a loved one. If you have a friend or colleague who is going through such difficult time, knowing what to say can be a bit difficult. Well, here is a guideline of the things that you can and cannot say when trying to console a grieving person.

  • Give the person the opportunity to share his feelings rather than you giving advice.
  • Ask the person whether or not he wants to talk.
  • Never ever say that such loss was God’s will.
