Josie voice was soft, but her opinions roared- when she would stand up and speak at any of community meetings. She would stand tall to anyone and express her opinion. She documented and had tapes of all meetings. When i first met Josie at a Union-Sackett meeting regarding the tearing down ILA n LANDMARKING. Well, we hit it off immediately. Her smile n jolly laugh. Her interest in music n dance- she loved traveling to the city for tango dancing, etc. She was always involved in helping everyone with their problems. Talked always about her years working at the Armory and her great boss. She was very creative. we would chat aft 11pm – she would talk about her decorative ideas. I will miss her presence at our meetings. Miss our chats.

More than a year has passed, but I just noticed this obituary and your condolence note when I looked up Josephine on the internet to get in touch with her. I am shocked and saddened. Jo and I worked together at Morgan Guaranty Trust Company and we became friends. She then took the job at the Armory when her boss left the bank and asked her to join him. Of course she did, because, as you mention, she thought he was a great boss and she loved working for him. We hadn’t been in touch in a long while and I was thinking of calling her just now. I am so sorry that I waited this long. If I had known she passed, I would have gone to her viewing, even though I moved from Brooklyn to NJ years ago. In fact, she had visited me here, and I was going to invite her to visit again. She is now in my prayers, and I will also remember her as you so wonderfully described her. My condolences to Josephine’s sister.
