Bee asked us to celebrate her life, not mourn our loss of a cherished sister, wife, mom, and friend. So cheers to Bee and all the beauty, style, grit, fearlessness, and humor she brought us for 48 years. Even when cancer limited her speech, her wit showed through. Bee was a talented artist and industrial designer, and an even more talented and dedicated mom. Before motherhood, Bee graduated with honors from Virginia Tech’s industrial design program and studied and worked in Milan (Italy) and Manhattan. One summer as an undergraduate, she worked as an intern in Georgetown, Washington, DC, focusing on textiles in interior design. I remember our mom being shocked as her teenage youngest daughter Bee set off looking so grown up, navigating the streets of DC in her carpool. Bee’s time as mom to James and Eve and wife to Peter were by far her most favorite years of her life. She loved her family fiercely and fought against cancer with a strength that constantly surprised the medical community and the dedicated doctors who I am so grateful were willing to defy odds with Bee. Through all the pain and suffering that comes with fighting cancer, Bee never lost her faith and love for God and her family. May she rest in peace.

Thank you for sharing this beautifully written tribute to Bee. I look at her photo and see light radiating from her face.

I have a vivid mental picture of a young Bee walking everywhere with your mom while the rest of you were in school. When it was her turn, she wowed everyone with her intellect, work ethic and accomplishments, the greatest of which was love.

I celebrate her life and mourn your family’s loss, especially that of Eve and James.

Much love to you and your family, Ellie.

I remember dancing my little heart out with Michael Ku-D at Bee and Peter’s wedding. It was such a joyous occasion. She was so beautiful. I will miss your beautiful smile Bee. Rest well. We’ll all dance together again one day.
With Love,
Little Ellie

I’m so sad to hear this news and send my condolences to the Ku family. I remember Bee fondly from being little girls in gymnastics and school together. She was kind and talented and beautiful. May her memory be a blessing to her loved ones.

I remember Bee at Fairfax High School. She will be truly missed and I’m just grateful for two things: one I had the chance to meet her and two, no more pain having to fight cancer! RIP Bee!

In my mind Bee will always be 11 years old. I remember her sweet, shy smile when she’d come over to my house along with Ellie in high school. I remember feeling deeply honored she asked me to play piano at her wedding reception, and being incredibly awed to see how that skinny little sixth grader transformed into an exquisitely beautiful, elegant bride. Grown up Bee was always gracious and kind; that sweet and gentle spirit fought her cancer with a ferocity that awed everyone, and surprised none. Rest in peace, little Bee. You will not be forgotten.

What a beautiful tribute to a life well lived. I remember Bee so well from our school days. Mostly I remember her spirit. I can sense it now. Peace, happiness and light. I could always count on Bee for her kindness and a big sweet smile – just like in this picture. My heart goes out to you, her family and closest friends, as you navigate these days of grief and transition.

Bee was one of my closest friends in high school. Always humble, hilarious, talented and positive.
Our inside joke was, “Fairfax gymnasts coming down the street!!!” That’s all we had to say to cause one another to erupt in laughter. 😆
My heart goes out to all the Ku girls, her family and especially Peter and the kids. May your memories and her spirit be always with you. You are so loved and missed , Bee 🐝🤟🙏🏻🫶

I am so sad to hear that Bee has passed, but her legacy will live on through her family, for sure. Ellie, your love for your sister continues to shine for all to see. This is such a beautiful tribute to a lovely lady, who was taken from us too soon. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. May God Bless you and keep you strong. Much Love, Jen and Doug Spencer
