Andrea Howell, a lifelong Brooklynite whose strength, kindness, and devotion to her family defined her life, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2026, surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness. She was 79 years old.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, on June 15, 1947, Andrea remained deeply connected to the borough she proudly called home throughout her entire adult life. She embraced the spirit of Brooklyn with pride and cherished the lifelong friendships, memories, and community that shaped her life.
Above all else, Andrea’s greatest joy was her family. She was a loving and devoted mother to her daughter, Dawn, and a cherished mother-in-law to Frank. Nothing brought Andrea greater happiness than being the proud grandmother of her beloved granddaughter, Alexandria, her “little angel.” Alexandria filled Andrea’s heart with immeasurable love and joy, and the bond they shared was one of the greatest blessings of her life.
Andrea was pre-deceased by her beloved parents, Andrew and Elizabeth, and by her sister, Janet. She leaves behind her loving siblings, Louis, Marianne, and Salvatore, with whom she shared a lifetime of memories and enduring family bonds. She was also a devoted great-aunt to Aidan, Brandon, Christian, Reagan, and Ryann, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Andrea treasured every opportunity to spend time with her nieces and nephews, celebrating their milestones and watching them grow.
Andrea’s life was marked by extraordinary resilience and courage. She was one of the remarkable survivors of both attacks on the World Trade Center, experiences that forever shaped her life and reflected her incredible strength, determination, and unwavering spirit. Those who knew Andrea admired her quiet fortitude, her perseverance in the face of adversity, and her ability to continue living with grace and compassion despite unimaginable challenges.
Andrea will be remembered for her warm heart, gentle nature, generous spirit, and unconditional love for those around her. She found happiness in the simple pleasures of life, especially time spent with family, whose love and companionship meant everything to her. Her kindness, resilience, and unwavering devotion to those she loved will leave a lasting legacy and will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Though deeply missed, Andrea’s memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and everyone whose lives she touched.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation on Thursday, August 6, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Aievoli Funeral Home, 1275 65th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11219.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 7, 2026, at the Basilica of Regina Pacis, 1230 65th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11219. Interment will immediately follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Staten Island, New York.
