The Hon. Nancy M. Schacher was a practicing attorney, having graduated St. John’s University and the Law School.
She was admitted to the N.Y.S. Bar, the United States Court, Southern District, and to the United States Supreme Court. She served as Law Assistant to the late Congressman Francis E. Dorn; and thereafter as Legislative Analyst and Law Librarian for Shell Oil Company and Law Judge for the N.Y.S. Workers’ Compensation Board for 25 years.
Judge Schacher’s past associations include Vice Pres. of the Eastern District Litigant Fund Corp. for U.S. Magistrates of U.S. District Court, Eastern District and Member of the Advisory Committee to U.S. District Court, Eastern District to revise the Eastern District Rutes for Uniformity as well as President of the Brooklyn Women’s Bar Association.
She received the “Human Relations” award from the National Conference of Christians and Jews, Brooklyn Region. She was the recipient of the National Achievement “AMITA” Award as the Most distinguished American Woman of Italian Descent in the Field of Law. She also received the John Crews Civics Award as Chair of the Republican Judicial Screening Committee from 1998-2000 and named Kings County Republican of the Year for “Community Service” by the Brownstone Republican Club, 2001 and Republican of the year by the Kings County Republican Party 2001.
