Verdoliva , Rita

Rita Verdoliva age 54 died the 22nd day of April, 2020. Rita was a resident of Staten Island since 1978. Born in L’Aquila, Italy on the 24th day of October, 1965 to her parents the late Antonio Colangeli and Angela Colangeli, present resident of Staten Island. At four months of age, Rita and her family made their journey to America to build their home in Brooklyn, N.Y.  Rita attended grammar school at the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Greenwood section of Brooklyn, N.Y. until 1978. The Colangeli family then moved to Grant City, Staten Island, N.Y. where Rita attended St. Christopher’s Elementary School. After graduation, she attended Countess Moore High School on Staten Island. She graduated in 1983 to go on to college at St. John’s University, to gain her degree in business.  She utilized that degree at various banking institutions but retired as Vice President of JP Morgan as Margins Supervisor.  She was forced to retire in 2014 due to the illness that eventually took her from us.
Rita was a high spirited, friendly, loving, compassionate person.  She loved to travel, spend time with her family and friends, and very devoted to volunteering at the food pantry, and attending weekly mass, at her parish, St. Ann’s Church, in Dongan Hills. Her travels took her to places all over the world.  Her family, especially her son Anthony was everything she lived for.  She left behind her mother Angela Colangeli, sister Antonella, Colangeli, her loving and devoted husband Anthony Verdoliva, and her only child Anthony Verdoliva Jr. She also left behind her beloved in-laws, Carmen and Sal Verdoliva, and the rest of the Verdoliva family. She will be sorely missed by her relatives and friends in Italy and here in America. May she rest in eternal peace with our Lord.
Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, Rita’s direct burial, at Moravian Cemetery, is arranged for May 19, 2020 by Scotto/Heyer Funeral Directors. More details are to follow.
