In Montgomery County, young children who are grieving the death of their loved one had a fun and memorable day at Camp Charlie in Horsham, Pennsylvania. Camp Charlie, a program that has been running for 10 years now, is a grief healing camp for children ages 6 to 12 who have lost a loved one.
Run by Jefferson Health’s Safe Harbor, Camp Charlie offers a safe place for more than 50 grieving children. Volunteers who are former campers acted as facilitators during the event. In Camp Charlie, young children share traumatic stories that happened to them. The role of the facilitators is to build their strength and eventually empower them.
