Ideally, people should all learn how to approach a grieving individual with empathy. However, each person reacts to grief and death differently. There are people who simply lack grief awareness and sensitivity and tolerating them can be a bit challenging.
Below are things that you can say or do to a grieving person.
- Ask the person how they are doing.
- Let them know that you just found out about their loss.
- Avoid saying words like, “She’s with the angels now.”
- Offer help in taking care of specific tasks.
