  1. Of all the people I have met, Giorgio was the only one who could claim, Sono buono, sono Giorgio Buono! but he didn’t have to say a word. Everyone who knew him already knew that he was so good. He always remembered my mother, even decades after she passed, and not to be able to greet him in the right front of the church is a great loss-leaving me with a terrible loss both personally and spiritually.

  2. I knew Giorgio and his brother Carmine for about 52 years. Carmine had a pizzeria called, the Pizza Box on the corner of my block,( Douglass and Hoyt Street). For me and my brothers, the Pizza Box had become a regular after school stop before going home. Giorgio was then, as he was until his passing, a kind man. When I met LouAnne and started coming to Sacred Heart Church, I saw Giorgio and was surprised he remembered me and my family, even though, many years had passed .
I , of course, knew Giorgio from our church. Ever present , ready to do readings and assume the Italian role for the Stations of the Cross. What I remember most… He was always smiling! He always was very complimentary about our singing, too . In these last years, Giorgio would have chats with my mother and about 5 years ago, he had begun to notice the difference in her manner of speaking. He knew she had begun showing signs of dementia. He was truly saddened for her, but he would still always be sure to greet her and chat briefly in Italian before they settled down at mass. I will always be grateful for having met him and for the kindness he showed both the Manus and Patti Families.
Cara Giorgio, Riposa in Pace !

  3. All who knew Giorgio will miss him dearly. He was so very dedicated to Sacred Hearts/St. Stephen Church and, for many years, he was there every morning to attend Mass and to do the Italian readings, even when doing so was a great physical struggle for him. Our parish has lost a kindly, always pleasant man of faith. Rest in peace, dear Giorgio!

  4. George was always present to me when I was in ministry there. He and Andy would always be on the lookout for candidates for the RCIA. I know that he is with the Lord.

  5. I will never forget the warmth and kindness with which Giorgio welcomed me into the parish of Sacred Hearts & St. Stephen’s when I moved to Carroll Gardens some twenty years ago. And after I left, and came back to visit, his warmth and kindness never waivered, neither did his faith. I feel privileged to have known him for a time, and wish him peaceful rest.

  8. Dear Zio Giorgio, I am so saddened by your passing. I have so many beautiful memories of you, the many wonderful dinners at your house, laughs and stories of my equally beautiful Nonna Candida, you and mommy. After Nonna passed away and we visited you in Brooklyn, I always felt her presence within you. I will never forget that or what an exquisite soul and heart you had. I will always hold you and my memories close to my heart. We love you. Vincenza, Pete and kids
