Grief is an emotional response to the death of a loved one, and because it is primarily an individual experience, it can take a toll on relationships. If you want to protect your relationships from its damaging consequences, consider the following:
- Be patient with whatever emotions the individual may be feeling
- Encourage him to talk about his feelings
- Offer to accompany him in activities that he enjoys
