For over two decades, Michelle van Schouwen and her husband Steve partnered in business and in life successfully. They founded the Van Schouwen Associates in 1985.
They developed the business together but in 2006 Steve, who was then 49-years old, died of heart attack. Michelle shares her insight for recovering from the overwhelming loss.
Gathering key information such as access to account numbers and passwords and other information that the other would need in case of an emergency is important. Getting grip on the money is important as well. According to Michelle, she always handled the business finances and it would create a problem had she been uninformed about issues like cash flow, expenses, and payroll.
